New Delhi: Dengue cases in Delhi-NCR witnessed a rise of 121 infections and one death in Ghaziabad. The mosquito-borne diseases are a result of the recent floods. The government has already announced the anti-larvae spraying treatment.
Today, the District Health Department reported five cases of dengue positivity. One of the cases involves Ayush, a 21-year-old who had travelled to Haridwar with his family. He developed a fever and was admitted to Yashoda Hospital on Sunday but tragically passed away on Tuesday. In response to his case, the health department has taken preventive measures by spraying anti-larvae treatment around Ayush’s house in Rajnagar.

This year, there has been an unusual spike in cases of dengue, malaria, and chikungunya in Delhi, with the peak occurring in July instead of the usual months of August and September.
From January to July 28, Delhi reported a total of 243 dengue cases, and half of these cases were registered in July alone. Additionally, there has been an increase in malaria cases, with 72 cases recorded so far this year. In July, 34 cases were reported, and 11 cases were recorded in the last week.
The Delhi health department has conducted genome sequencing of 20 samples, revealing that 19 of them were type two dengue, which poses a higher risk to patients. This information is crucial in understanding the severity and potential impact of the outbreak on public health.
