New Delhi: Due to the construction of a flyover and the widening of the drain, there will be a traffic diversion at two locations near Delhi Aerocity. The location includes Northern Access Road near the Pullman Hotel/Andaz Hotel, which has already been implemented, and the second one is just after the traffic signal of Aerocity Metro, which is going to take effect on June 1. People are advised to take the metro to reach the airport.
The operator of IGI Airport, after consulting with Delhi Traffic Police, announced the diversion of traffic, which would be in place for a couple of months.
Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) stated, “Traffic heading towards T2/T3 from T1 has been diverted to the newly constructed three-lane corridor adjacent to the previous route. However, vehicles intending to enter Aerocity and buses operated by Delhi Metro will continue to be allowed to use a single lane on the previous route through entry gate numbers 2 and 3.”
They added while saying that there will be no change in the direction of traffic moving towards T3/T2 towards T1/Gurgaon/Delhi, “Traffic intending to reach T3/T2 from Aerocity/Mahipalpur must make a compulsory left turn at the next signal towards the west direction, merging with traffic coming from Radisson Circle for T3/T2.”
DAIL said, “DIAL appreciates the cooperation and understanding of the public and assures them that efforts are being made to minimise inconvenience. Necessary signage and traffic management measures have been put in place by DIAL and Delhi Traffic Police to facilitate the smooth flow of vehicles during these diversions. Commuters and airport users are urged to follow the designated routes, exercise caution, and cooperate with traffic personnel on duty.”
To permit the building of the Aerocity flyover and extension of the stormwater drain, a single 250-metre-long lane will be open from the Aerocity signal to the new traffic light on Central Spine. This lane is only for vehicles travelling from Mahipalpur and Aerocity to the T3/T2 terminals.
