New Delhi: In view of the upcoming MCD elections in the national capital Delhi, there will be a dry day from Friday to Sunday. This means that there will be a ban on the sale of liquor for three days due to the civic elections. The Municipal Excise Department has made this announcement .

Voting in 250 wards of the national capital

The voting for 250 wards in the national capital Delhi will begin from tomorrow i.e. December 2 and will continue till December 4. The counting of the votes will take place on December 7.

Here is what the notice says

The notice released by the managing committee reads, “In view of the civic polls in Delhi, the State Elections Commission has declared DRY DAYS from 5.30 pm of December 2, 2022 to December 4, 2022 5.30 pm and again on December 7, 2022 on the of counting of votes in the whole NCT of Delhi. All the liquor vends, bars, sale outlets, etc. will remain closed.”

It further reads, “DRY DAYS: December 2, 3, 4 and December 7. Excise Department and Delhi Police will take round in the city to ensure that there is no unauthorized storage of liquor or transportation of unauthorized liquor.”

 

Rule 52 imposed in Delhi

The Excise Department has announced that Dry Day will be observed on 7th December as well. In a notification, Delhi Commissioner (Excise) Krishna Mohan Uppu said on Wednesday that in pursuance of the provisions of Rule 52 of the Delhi Excise Rules, 2010, it is hereby ordered that December 2, December 4 and December 7 shall be dry days.

It was told that there will be a ban on the sale of liquor in shops, clubs, bars etc. from Friday to Sunday. In addition, December 7, 2022 (Wednesday) (the date of counting of votes) will also be a dry day. It has been said in the notification that the civic elections in 250 wards are to be held on December 4, so this decision has been taken.
