New Delhi: The Delhi Police has taken suo motto cognizance to file an FIR against a drunk security guard who was caught on camera while molesting girls. The incident took place in a PG hostel in the Karol Bagh area of Delhi.

The Police on Wednesday said the girls were against filing any complaint. Hence, the police sought a legal opinion and filed a complaint on the basis of a video footage.

DCP Central District, Shweta Chauhan said, “Since the complainant is against giving a statement, legal opinion was taken and as per legal opinion and in light of video footage, FIR being registered suo motto by police.”

Meanwhile, the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) on Tuesday issued a notice to the police seeking report on the matter.

DCW chief Swati Maliwal informed that the women’s panel received the complaint through Twitter where the video was going viral. In which, the drunk security guard was beating girls while they were running away from him.

Said the chief, “A disturbing incident has been reported to the Commission. An FIR must be registered immediately and the accused must be arrested. The brazenness of the act is unnerving and the strongest action needs to be taken.”
