Noida: The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) is likely to acquire 2,053 hectares of land in the third phase of the Noida International Airport in Jewar. According to reports, the district administration and YEIDA will jointly conduct a large-scale anti-encroachment drive soon in a bid to reclaim the illegally occupied property across 14 villages. Earlier, it was reported that YEIDA will begin acquiring land for the 3rd phase by the end of September, 2023.
Warning To 100 Landowners
Ahead of this move, locals in several areas previously constructed buildings illegally, hoping to get compensation for the same. According to YEIDA OSD Shailendra Singh, they have asked for police assistance to carry out the demolition drive. Around 100 landowners have been already issued warnings. Additionally, the encroachment team has secured demolition orders against illegal buildings. The anti-encroachment drive is expected to start this weekend, reports added.
Four Teams Formed In Jewar Tehsil
The demolition drive, which was initially scheduled to take place in a few villages yesterday, to free the land, was halted for some reason, the authorities said. Warning letters were actively issued since Monday to stop more than 100 new building projects. Four teams have been formed in Jewar tehsil to detect and stop the ongoing unauthorized constructions in several villages. The team will visit Banwari Bas, Kishorepur, Ramner, Neemka, Thora, and Mukimpur Shivara to issue warning letters. Those who fail to comply will face repercussions.
Demolition Drive To Commence This Week
“We have sent a request for police assistance to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) headquarters to support the demolition operation. The enforcement team has issued warnings to more than 100 landowners and secured demolition orders for illegal constructions. The operation is expected to commence this week,” TOI quoted an official as official.
9500 Farmers To Be Displaced
Around 9,500 farmers will be displaced in the third and fourth phases of the Jewar Airport. However, some farmers are still constructing structures on the notified land, although the district administration has assured them that they will be compensated fairly for the same. Meanwhile, YEIDA CEO Arun Vir Singh has announced that they will not let anyone build illegal structures on notified land for Asia’s biggest airport.
