Woman Jumps Off Delhi’s Signature Bridge Into Swollen Yamuna, Rescue Ops Underway

A woman jumped into the swollen Yamuna River from Delhi's Signature Bridge on Wednesday. Rescue operations are currently underway with Delhi Fire Service, Delhi Police, and a team of divers present at the scene to search for her.

An eyewitness said that she was with her son at the bridge. The boy approached him and sought help after his mother jumped into the river. The eyewitness said, “At around 7 am, a woman, along with her son, came to the bridge. The woman jumped, and the son came running to me, asking to save her.”

At the same time, the Yamuna at the Old Railway Bridge in Delhi recorded a water level of 204.96 metres at 6 am on Tuesday. The official stated the water level was closing in on the warning mark of 204.50 metres. The water level progressively declined after it recorded the season’s highest level at 207.48 metres last Thursday. The warning mark for the city is 204.50 metres, while the earmarked danger mark is 205.33 metres, and evacuation of people begins at 206 metres.
