The accused has been identified as 22-year-old Jai Singh, who used to molest the girl repeatedly. Notably, death was not the first decision that the girl made. She initially informed her family that thereafter went to Jai Singh’s house to confront him for the crime. She committed suicide after the accused’s family allegedly thrashed hers.

“On Thursday, the survivor, along with her elder sister and brother, visited the accused’s house to confront him but they were allegedly thrashed by him and his family. Later, the teen hanged herself using a sari in a deserted house,” said ASP Samar Bahadur. He also mentioned that the family had earlier filed a complaint with the police.

An FIR has been lodged on the basis of a complaint by the brother and police have charged six people under sections 354, 306, 504, 506, and 509 and also sections of the POCSO act. The deceased body has been sent for a forensic test but the accused remains unarrested yet.

The deceased brother alleged the accused’s friends purportedly circulated the video of her sister’s assault, however, who made the video and did this is unclear.
