Five people, including three women and two men, were killed on Friday after a portion of the roof of a room at Dargah Sharif Patte Shah collapsed near Humayun’s Tomb, Delhi Police said.

Officials said that 11 people were safely evacuated from the debris and admitted to a nearby hospital. Rescue operations are still underway as some people are feared to be trapped.

Immediately after the collapse, relief and rescue operations were launched, with teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), fire brigade and local police rushing to the site. The incident took place at a place near Humayun’s Tomb, which was cordoned off for security reasons and public movement was stopped so that there was no hindrance in the relief work.
According to officials, NDRF personnel entered the dargah complex and started searching for people buried under the debris. Immediately after the incident, teams of the fire department and emergency services were also present at the spot and assisted in the rescue operations.
Delhi Police informed, “So far 11 people have been rescued safely and admitted to a nearby hospital. At present, rescue operations are underway.” The site of the incident has been completely sealed, and a team of structural experts and investigators is investigating there. The cause of the accident is being investigated in detail to find out the real cause.
