Noida: There is an alarming news for Noida residents as using hooters and sirens during Holi celebrations may cost you Rs 10,000. DCP Traffic Lakhan Singh Yadav informed that Traffic police is planning to take strict action against people driving recklessly, driving under the influence alcohol and those using sirens improperly. The fines will be imposed under Section 190 of Motor Vehicle Act. He stated that special teams will be deployed to monitor traffic movement, ensure safety and prevent violations of rules.
Furthermore, a special drive will be conducted throughout the week to regulate drunk driving. Checkpoints will be setup across major intersections. Breathalyser tests will also be carried out.
DCP Traffic Noida extended greetings of Holi along with list of rules that one must avoid. They wrote on X, “Gautam Buddha Nagar Traffic Police wishes everyone a very Happy Holi!! This Holi let’s wage a war against bad traffic habits and help the traffic police in providing smooth and safe traffic”

UP Police Intensifies Security Measures
Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Police has intensified security measures in view of the upcoming Holi. District intelligence networks have been activated and all personnel have been asked to remain vigilant.
In its directives, UP Police said, “No new tradition should be allowed to be started during festivals. All festivals should be celebrated traditionally…Antisocial elements should be identified in advance, and effective preventive action should be taken against them. After reviewing the disputes and cases related to Holi in the past years, effective preventive action should be taken accordingly.”
A comprehensive action plan has been put in place to curb the production, sale, and transportation of illegal toxic liquor to prevent any untoward incidents. The Coordination with excise officials and local magistrates has been ordered for conducting raids and surprise checks.
Moreover, special teams, including “poster parties” and “morning checking teams,” will be deployed. Senior officers will supervise regular foot patrolling in markets and commercial hubs.
