New Delhi: Four truck drivers were arrested for assaulting a 20-year-old man in Delhi after he was injured in an accident on Dwarka Expressway, said police officials on Friday. The incident took place at around 11 am on September 5, when Vaibhav Kunal, a resident of Najafgarh, Delhi, was returning home by motorbike from Manesar. F
According to the police, Kunal was returning via Dwarka Expressway when a truck turned left, hit his motorbike and injured him. According to a police officer involved in the case, Kunal’s phone was damaged in the accident so he called his family from a passerby’s phone and told them about the accident along with his location.
The police officer said that in the presence of passersby, the truck driver sympathized with Kunal and offered to pay compensation for the damage to Kunal’s motorbike. The truck driver immediately called his associates and asked them to come at the spot.
Soon, at least three or four of his associates, in another truck, arrived at the scene and allegedly brutally assaulted Kunal. The police said the suspects injured Kunal, after which his parents came and took him to a private hospital in Najafgarh for treatment.
The hospital staff informed the Delhi Police, who in turn informed the Gurugram Police. “Doctors said the attack had caused internal bleeding and if the medicine did not work, I would have to have surgery,” Kunal said, adding that doctors advised him to rest for at least 10 days because he unable to move due to serious health condition.
