Noida: A 40-year-old man was arrested in Noida for allegedly forging his son’s Transfer Certificate (TC) to show him as a minor in a 2016 rape and murder case. According to sources, the man named Mohanlal conspired with the school principal Nathuram in the Kanpur Dehat area to create fake Class 8 mark sheets.
Reports revealed that he did so in a bid to reduce his son’s jail tenure from life imprisonment under section 302 (murder) of IPC and POSCO Act sections to 3 years under the JJ act. Although Mohanlal has been arrested, Nathuram is absconding, the police said.
Alleged Crime And Legal Action
Mohanlal’s son was arrested for raping and killing a minor girl in the Ecotech-3 area of Greater Noida in 2016, PTI reported. Based on the fabricated Transfer Certificate, he was later sent to a correctional home in Phase 2, Noida. The case was filed on Oct 9 last year.
Victim’s Family Exposes Forged Documents
The victim’s family exposed the accused by presenting the correct documents before the Juvenile Justice Board. The minor girl’s mother produced the class 12 marksheet of the accused which revealed the latter was born on July 10, 1997, and was 19 years old at the time of the crime. Police Investigations revealed that Mohanlal had tampered with his son’s documents to avoid punishment and legal action.
TOI quoted Phase 2 SHO Vindyachal Tiwari as saying, “After a year-long search, police arrested the father of the accused from Kanpur and presented him before the court. The headmaster is yet to be arrested.”
