The Noida-Greater Noida Expressway may experience worse traffic congestion than Greater Noida West in the coming years. Currently, the expressway, which connects the two cities, is considered one of the busiest routes. Given the recent increase in traffic, it is believed that the expressway may struggle to accommodate the growing number of commuters as the population expands.
The Noida-Greater Noida Expressway is a six-lane route connecting Mahamaya Flyover in Noida to Pari Chowk in Greater Noida, traversing multiple sectors along the way.
Will Traffic Jams Get Worse?
During peak hours, commuters traveling from Noida to Greater Noida face severe traffic jams at two points. The first is between Chilla Border and Kalindi Kunj, and the second is from Alpha Roundabout to Greater Noida Gate, where a 2-kilometer-long jam is a common sight during peak hours.

Furthermore, once the Noida International Airport, also known as Jewar Airport, becomes operational, the situation on this expressway is expected to worsen. It is likely to become even more congested compared to the traffic chaos seen in Gurugram and Greater Noida West. A journey that currently takes 30 minutes could stretch to 2 hours. Even now, traveling from Noida to Greater Noida during peak hours takes nearly an hour, highlighting the growing traffic woes on the expressway.
Given the problem, without major infrastructure upgrades and improved public transport options, traffic congestion on the expressway could worsen, especially during peak hours. The ongoing construction of new residential complexes and the influx of more people into the area are expected to add more pressure on this significant route.

Traffic Chaos On Greater Noida West
Traffic congestion on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway has been compared to that of Greater Noida West, as the traffic jams in the latter have become a nightmare for commuters.
Vehicles in Greater Noida West heading towards the Delhi-Meerut Expressway, Crossings Republik, and Greater Noida converge at Gaur Chowk, causing long queues during peak hours.
Several users have even highlighted this problem on social media, stating that travel time in Greater Noida West has increased by at least 30 minutes in the last three to four months. It now takes around 45 minutes to cross the 2 km stretch. Sumil Jalota, another resident, noted the worsening traffic around Gaur Chowk, with his commute taking an additional 15 to 30 minutes due to congestion.
As per reports, almost 400,000 residents of high-rises and nearby villages in Greater Noida West face daily traffic jams at Gaur Chowk. Gaur Chowk is a key junction connecting major routes like the Delhi-Meerut Expressway, Crossings Republik, and Greater Noida.
pic.twitter.com/lBNJjSzWql— Greater Noida West (@GreaterNoidaW) August 30, 2024
Notably, Authorities are working to address the issue. Yamuna Prasad, deputy commissioner of Noida traffic, said they are collaborating with the Greater Noida authority and have made minor changes, including traffic cuts and diversions, along with deploying additional traffic personnel during peak hours.
