The Noida International Airport (NIA), also known as Jewar Airport, is set to begin its commercial operation by April, 2025. To ease the travel experience of commuters, Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has planned to operate electric busses on six major routes. These electric busses will connect Jewar Airport to Noida, Greater Noida and nearby areas of Western Uttar Pradesh.
The proposed routes include:
Jewar to Botanical Garden metro station in Noida,
Route linking Noida Sector 35 with the airport via Pari Chowk.
How Will It Benefit Commuters?
According to YEIDA officials, the authorities had requested permission from Uttar Pradesh Roadways and will hire an operator to run the buses once the approvals are granted. As per reports, the initial fleet will have 175-200 buses in it, equipped with enough space for luggage.
Times Of India quoted YEIDA CEO, Arun Vir Singh, who stated that the service aims at providing a dedicated public transport system for commuters and airport passengers. A network of electric bus routes linking the Jewar airport with more key locations in the region beyond will be in place very soon.
Reportedly, the routes leading to airport have been under consideration for months.
YEIDA had submitted a request to the transport commissioner in June 2023 and outlined three routes connecting Rabupura, the YEIDA office, and Pari Chowk with the Noida airport in Jewar.
The proposed routes for connectivity to the airport will cater to commuters of cities such as Jewar, Bulandshahr, Sikandrabad, Khurja, Tappal, and others. It will enhance transportation facilities along these areas. The authority has sent a proposal for the new routes to the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC).
According to reports, YEIDA has received permission to operate busses along two routes in Yamuna city. These include routes from Pari Chowk to Jewar Airport via Rabupura and from Kasna Bus Depot to the airport via Galgotia University. At least 175 busses will be operated.
Authorities will develop an app to monitor these electric busses. Through these app, busses can be tracked live and passengers can also book busses in advance.
