Greater Noida: The Noida International Airport, also known as Jewar International Airport, is currently in the process of construction in Uttar Pradesh’s planned city, Noida. It is poised to become a significant addition to the National Capital Region’s infrastructure.
According to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the first runway of the airport is expected to be completed by the conclusion of this year. This development holds the potential to make the Noida International Airport the largest in Asia and the fourth-largest globally.
Informing about the development, MLA Dhirendra Singh shared insights about the project, emphasizing its rapid progression and its anticipated positive impact on the economy of Greater Noida and Uttar Pradesh as a whole.
The construction work at the airport site is making rapid progress, with various aspects of the project moving forward swiftly. The government’s dedication to ensuring a strong sense of security and safety has played a crucial role in facilitating the smooth advancement of the airport’s development. As a result, the overall economy of the western part of Uttar Pradesh, along with the region of Greater Noida, is experiencing a significant boost attributable to the positive impact of this airport.

About Noida International Airport
Once all expansions are finalized, the Noida International Airport will boast an impressive six runways, positioning it as the fourth-largest airport on a global scale and the largest in Asia. An earlier proposal from 2019 had suggested the addition of two more runways, potentially bringing the total count to eight.
Notably, this airport aims to achieve net-zero carbon emissions, making it a pioneering initiative in the realm of sustainable aviation. In comparison, only Chicago-O’Hare and Dallas/Fort Worth airports currently have more runways, with eight and seven respectively, while airports in Amsterdam, Boston, Denver, and Detroit each have six.
Other major airports such as Atlanta, Houston-Intercontinental, Shanghai-Pudong, and Pearson in Toronto have five runways.
As of July 2023, the Indira Gandhi International Airport holds the record for the most runways among Indian airports, with a total of four. Enthusiasm abounds among the public as they await the completion of this significant airport project.
