Keeping the prevailing trend of air quality in view, the CAQM sub-Committee today has taken the call to invoke all actions laid out under the Stage 3 extent of GRAP.
Delhi has been showcasing ‘severe’ Air quality ( Delhi AQI ranging between 401-450), with immediate effect, in the entire NCR. This is in addition to actions under the stages I and II of the extant GRAP already in force NCR.
Bawana recorded an AQI of 462, Wazirpur 460, while both Mundka and Punjabi Bagh reported 452.
Air Quality Index (AQI) classifications are as follows: 51–100 is considered ‘satisfactory’, 101–200 ‘moderate’, 201–300 ‘poor’, 301–400 ‘very poor’, and anything above 400 falls under the ‘severe’ category.
GRAP-III Implemented in Delhi: What’s Allowed and What’s Not

Non-essential construction and demolition activities are to be completely banned.

All private BS-III petrol and BS-IV diesel light motor vehicles (LMVs) in Delhi, Gurugram, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, and Noida are banned.

Other curbs include a ban on non-essential diesel-run BS-IV medium goods vehicles and on BS-IV and lower diesel light commercial vehicles registered outside Delhi, except those transporting essential goods or providing essential services.

Under the new stage, private companies have been advised to adopt work-from-home or hybrid arrangements to help reduce vehicle emissions.

Schools up to Class 5 are asked to be closed, and classes have been shifted to online mode.

Public projects, including railways, metro construction, airports, defence, sanitation, and healthcare, are allowed to continue.
