Delhi-Meerut Expressway Accident: Many people were reportedly injured after a major accident occurred on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway in the Bhojpur police station area on Wednesday morning. At least 25 vehicles traveling from Meerut to Delhi collided with each other on the expressway triggering major traffic jams. The collision, caused by dense fog prompted the police to initiate the rescue work. Fortunately, no casualties were reported from the tragic incident. Police cleared the damaged vehicles from the scene.

Earlier today, in yet another incident, a ‘stampede-like’ situation occurred at Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, leaving several people injured, according to Special Executive Officer Akanksha Rana. Additionally, many people are feared dead in the incident. More than 80 to 100 million people are expected to gather at the Sangam Ghats on the occasion of Mauni Amavasya today.
Responding to the unfortunate incident, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath in an X post cautioned devotees arriving at Prayagraj from going towards the Sangam Ghat. He said, “Take a dip at the Ganga ghat nearest to you, do not try to go towards Sangam Nose. Everyone must follow the instructions of the administration and cooperate in making arrangements. Dismiss any rumours.”
Several akharas at the Kumbh Mela have reportedly called off the Mauni Amavasya ‘Shahi Snan’ following the stampede. Additionally, PM Modi discussed the situation there with UP CM Yogi Adityanath and urged for prompt support measures.
