New Delhi: A 28-year-old man from Gurugram is suspected to unintentionall kill himself while streaming the act on Instagram. The man who was trying to scare and blackmail his girlfriend so she could patch things up with him. However, his girlfriend had broke up with him after knowing that he was already married.
“The man then started live streaming on her Instagram profile, threatening to commit suicide if she did not return to him,” said the officer.
The woman received a notification about the live broadcast. On the video, the man in the hotel room threatened to commit suicide in an attempt to scare the woman, but his attempt was unsuccessful and he accidentally killed himself.
She tried to contact him but was unsuccessful so she ran to the hotel and told the staff but he was already dead at that time, informed the police official. Hotel staff notified the police, while the woman contacted the man’s wife to tell her about the incident, after which the deceased’s family also arrived at the scene.
FIR Against Girlfriend
Meanwhile, the family blamed the girlfriend and claimed that she often blackmailed him. Police said that based on a complaint by his wife, a first information report was registered against the 19-year-old woman under section 306 (abetment to suicide) of the Penal Code India at Gurugram Sadar police station on Monday evening.
The accused said the 19-year-old woman prepared two videos of her husband to blackmail, then incited him to commit suicide after calling him to the hotel. The deceased’s brother, a senior official of the Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, said his brother took ₹50,000 from his wife before leaving the house.
He added that the deceased man had also taken ₹10 lakh from him on an earlier occasion, but never revealed where he had invested the money.
Inspector Subhash Chand, officer of Gurugram Sadar police station, said an investigation is underway to probe the case from all angles. “Both previously worked together in a hospital. The room was decorated with balloons because the woman had celebrated her birthday on Sunday night. We are trying to determine where he placed the wires,” he added.
