New Delhi: A private recruitment company was found fraudulently putting his unemployed wife on payroll and recieved regular salary for over a decade. However, the company did not clarified the exact amount but assumed that the loss is in crores.
The Delhi-based company suspected some mishappening in the company’s account that followed an internal enquiry in December last year. The firm also lodged the complain with the Delhi Police, explaining details on the manipulation of finance. The police started an investigation soon after that.
The fraud took place in ManpowerGroup Service Private Limited. This company provides staffing and recruitment services to many firms.
Accused joined firm in 2008 as assistant manager
As per the complaint, the company had hired the accused employee Radhaballav Nath in 2008 as an assistant manager (finance) who later promoted to the position of manager. He allegedly made a plan to keep a source of income in the name of his wife.
Due to the company’s private policies on monthly payroll and reimbursement data, only three people had access to the confidential data. The list included Radhaballav Nath apart from the director (human resources) and the chief human resource officer (CHRO).
The accused used to tell the outside payroll vendor regarding salary preparation as he was an interface between the latter and other departments of the company including HR and finance.
Nath was responsible for conveying details of new joinees, those who left the organisation, the working employees’ attendance etc. to the payroll vendor who then used to prepare a monthly pay register as per rule.
The completing the register, the payroll vendor used to submit it to Nath and it would go to director (HR) and then to the CHRO for the final approval.
However, the CHRO then push it backward to Nath through director (HR). The final document used to end up at Nath only. This way, he kept allegedly betraying the company for years. A police investigation has been launched in the matter.
