New Delhi: Former Supreme Court judge Justice Madan B. Lokur supported the Aam Aadmi Party-led Delhi government on the central government’s ordinance. In one of his articles, he wrongly criticized the policies adopted by the central government, especially the decisions taken. In his article, the former justice said that the Delhi Ordinance was primarily brought to control the AAP government in Delhi.
Further, the former Supreme Court judge said in his article that AAP convenor and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has already expressed his opposition to this issue on a large scale. The former Supreme Court judge has explained in his article how the AAP government in Delhi is fighting the arbitrary bill of the Centre.
The former judge said that the purpose of the Delhi Ordinance is to put pressure on the people of Delhi. That is why the central government has brought this bill. The former judge further said that the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi Amendment Ordinance 2023 is going to change the nature of administration in Delhi.
The Supreme Court will decide the legality
The former Justice said that it is not in consonance with the spirit of the Constitution. The Supreme Court will decide the constitutional validity of the ordinance after the matter comes to the fore. He further said that there is no doubt that it will reverse the pattern of governance prevalent in Delhi since 1991. Let us tell you that earlier on the ordinance of the Center (regarding transfer posting), senior advocate Gopal Sankaranarayanan also supported the Delhi government.
