There is an exciting news for commuters, as an 8.25-kilometer long and 30-meter wide road connecting the Jewar Airport’s cargo terminal to the Yamuna Expressway will be constructed. As per reports, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will construct this hi-tech road.
The project is estimated to cost Rs 178 crore and Yamuna Authority will bear the full cost, according to media reports.
How Will It Benefit Commuters?
NHAI has expanded the carriageway of this road to 18 meters from the earlier proposed 14 meters. This expansion will ensure smooth movements of all types of heavy and light vehicles. The construction of this road was initially to be done by the Yamuna Authority at a cost of Rs 64 crore. However, the NHAI has now been brought in to improve the quality of the road.
The construction of this road will lead to direct connectivity between the Yamuna Expressway and the air cargo terminal. It will further ease the movement of heavy vehicles, cargo trucks and passenger vehicles. This project will promote industrial activities in the region.
Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority, CEO Dr. Arun Vir Singh said, “At present there is no direct route available in the northeastern direction from the airport. The construction of this new road will address this gap and become crucial link for regional transportation. Previously, a 75-meter wide road was supposed to be developed from Sector-29. But, due to land acquisition and issues related to farmers, there has been a delay in this project,” Navbharat Times reported.
