Gurugram Rain Alert: In view of the heavy rains that have disrupted life in the Gurugram district of Haryana, the District Disaster Management Authority on Monday issued an advisory. The department has ordered all schools in the district to conduct online classes on Tuesday, September 2, while all corporate offices and private institutions are advised to allow their employees to work from home.
IMD Issues Orange Alert
According to the India Metrological Department (IMD), heavy rainfall of over 100 mm was recorded in Gurugram between 3 pm and 7pm on Monday, September 1. An orange alert has been issued for Tuesday, as the downpour is likely to continue overnight.
DDMA, Gurugram Issues Advisory
The District Disaster Management Authority, Gurugram stated in its order, “Today, from 3 pm to 7pm, heavy rainfall of over 100 mm has been recorded in Gurugram City. Indian Metrological Department in its forecast has issued Orange Alart: Heavy to very Heavy rainfall for 02-09-2025. In view of the above forecast, all Corporate offices and Private institutions in the district are advised to guide their employees to work from home; and all schools in the district are advised to conduct Online classes on 02-09-2025.”

Meanwhile, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini held a meeting with all the District Deputy Commissioners and reviewed the situation arising due to more than normal and continuous rains in the state.

Heavy rains lashed the city on Monday evening, bringing it to a standstill with slow-moving traffic and stranded commuters taking shelter under footbridges. Waterlogging was reported in various areas like Sector 45, with water levels reaching up to the knee height.
Current visuals from National Highway-8 shows heavy traffic and slow vehicular movement on the carriageway (recorded at 10:15 pm).
Haryana Congress Holds Protest Against Waterlogging
Earlier in the day, Haryana Congress workers held protest against the state government amid severe waterlogging in Gurugram following heavy showers. District Congress President (Urban) Pankaj Dawar said, “Change the name of the city from Gurugram to ‘Talabgram’… The city is drowning… The water has not been drained since 1 hour… How much corruption will the government do? It has done the highest corruption in history.”
