Like many families, Nikki’s parents also went beyond their means to meet their daughter’s in-laws’ dowry demand. To secure a happy and stable future for her, they gifted Nikki’s husband, Vipin Bhati, a Scorpio SUV, a Royal Enfield bike, cash, and even gold during the couple’s wedding in 2016. However, his greed was far from satisfied.
Nikki and her elder sister Kanchan tied the knot to brothers Vipin and Rohit, respectively, in 2016, but just after 6 months of marriage, their in-laws started torturing them for more dowry. When Vipin’s dowry demand for Rs 36 lakh was not fulfilled, he, along with his mother, brutally thrashed Nikki before setting her on fire on Thursday night (August 21). The deeply disturbing incident took place in Greater Noida’s Sirsa village.
The victim died on her way to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi, while Police arrested her husband. As per the latest update, Vipin Bhati was taken to the hospital for treatment after he was shot in the leg during an encounter with the police today.

Nikki’s Father Demands The Accused Be Shot
Nikki’s father, Bhikari Singh Payla, has demanded that Vipin and his mother be shot in an encounter. He told NDTV, “They are killers, they should be shot, their home razed. My daughter was bringing up her son by running a parlour. They tortured her. The whole family was involved in the conspiracy, and they killed my daughter.”
Victim’s 6-Year-Old Son Recalls Horror
Nikki’s young son, who witnessed the incident, recounted the horror. The little boy, while fighting back tears, said, “Meri mumma ke upar kuch daala tha, unko chaata maara tha, phir lighter se aag lag di gayi.” (They first poured something on mumma, then slapped her before setting her on fire using a lighter). When someone asked if his father killed his mother, he nodded his head.
