Greater Noida Shocker: Nigerian Woman Held Hostage, Assaulted And Demanded A Ransom Of Rs 7 Lakh

In her complaint, the victim said that the accused person runs an illegal task force in Greater Noida. This includes people who are living in India without a valid visa.

Greater Noida: In a recent shocking incident that unfolded in Greater Noida, a foreign woman was held hostage, allegedly assaulted and demanded ransom. According to the victim, the accused have been torturing her for quite a long time. However, she managed to escape from their clutches and reach police. The woman identified as Chukwuemeka Joshua Onyekwelu, who resides in Supertech Golf Country in Greater Noida’s Sector-22 D is originally a resident of Nigeria.

Tied In Chains, Demanded Rs 7 Lakh

According to News24 reporter Junaid Akhtar, on March 23, the accused and his associates kidnapped her and took her to an office located in Sector Gamma-1 where she was held captive. They even tied the woman in chains and threatened to kill her while demanding a ransom of Rs 7 lakh. When she refused to pay the money, they threatened to implicate her in criminal cases.

Accused Runs An illegal Task Force

In her complaint, the victim said that the accused person runs an illegal task force in Greater Noida. This includes people who are living in India without a valid visa. She alleged that the people in context are involved in illegal activities, such as forced eviction, extortion and violation of human rights etc. Meanwhile, the victim told police that the accused has been working under the pretext of a false identity for the past eight years. Additionally, he calls himself a representative of the Nigerian Embassy and UN Peace Ambassador, however, the Nigerian High Commission has denied the claims.

Victim Alleges Police Took No Action

The victim further alleged that the accused’s visa has expired and that he is living illegally in India. A case is also ongoing against him for selling illegal liquor in a club in Greater Noida. Complaints have been earlier filed against him many times, but the police did not take any action.

Action To be taken After Investigation

In this regard, the police noted that the woman has launched a complaint about the matter. Preliminary investigations revealed a matter of transaction between the two parties. A dispute between both has also come to light. Police are currently investigating the allegations made by the woman. Meanwhile, a report will only be filed after a thorough investigation.
