Greater Noida: Man Falls Into Sewer Manhole, Rescued After 20 Minutes; Blames Authorities for Negligence

It is being said that due to continuous negligence on the part of the authority, people are often becoming victims of such accidents. Even after this, the authority officials are not paying attention to getting these works done properly

Greater Noida: In a shocking incident, a man identified as Sanjay Singh fell into a sewer manhole in Beta 1 of Greater Noida. It is being reported that he kept shouting for help in an injured condition inside the sewer for about 20 minutes. He was later rescued by a passerby who heard his cries and pulled him out. He has suffered serious injuries in his leg and hand. The hand is badly torn and he has got 21 stitches. While there are injuries in other parts of the body as well. The victim has accused the authority of negligence.

Sanjay Singh Had Left Home For Some Work

Sanjay Singh, a resident of Eldeco Green Meadows, in Sector Pi 1, had gone to Sector Beta 1 for some work. The incident happened around 7:30 pm on Saturday evening, when he was going from the service road of the sector and suddenly his foot stepped on the sewer lid.  The lid was half broken due to which he fell into the manhole. He was inside the sewer for about 20 minutes and kept asking for help. There was water in the sewer as well. He was so badly injured that he wasn’t able to get up on his own and was injured severely by the iron rods of the manhole.

10 Stitches On Both Legs, 21 Stitches On One Hand

The victim said that he has got severe injuries in two places on his leg and one place on his hand. When he screamed loudly after falling, a passerby pulled him out of the sewer manhole. There was a lot of bleeding due to injuries on his hands and legs. He is undergoing treatment in a private hospital. There are about 10 stitches on both the wounds on his leg and about 21 stitches on his hand.

Allegations Levelled Against Authority Officials

It is being said that due to continuous negligence on the part of the authority, people are often becoming victims of such accidents. Even after this, the authority officials are not paying attention to getting these works done properly. The victim added that the sewer lids are broken at many places across the city. The drains are open. Dirt is spread all around.
