Police identified the deceased as Sanjay Yadav, a resident of Nehru Nagar in Ghaziabad. Yadav was reportedly friends with the two accused, Vishal Rajput and Jeet Chaudhary, who are also from Ghaziabad.

Friend Turned Foe!

Police have arrested two men, Vishal Rajput and Jeet Chaudhary, both residents of Madhuban Bapudham in Ghaziabad, for allegedly killing their friend, Sanjay Yadav, the property dealer, over a monetary dispute and setting his body on fire inside his SUV.

According to investigators and Noida Police, Yadav had a falling out with Rajput and Chaudhary due to financial disagreements. On Tuesday, the three men met and consumed beer together. Later that evening, the suspects strangled Yadav using a dog collar in Ghaziabad.

In an attempt to cover up the murder and make it appear as an accident, Rajput and Chaudhary transported Yadav’s body to a remote forested area near Nagla Nainsukh village in Dadri. They set his vehicle on fire with the body inside, hoping to destroy evidence.

“Yadav’s family members told us that he left home with his two friends Vishal Rajput and Jeet Chaudhary. It came to fore that the Yadav had a quarrel with them. So we detained the two men for questioning,” said Ashok Kumar, additional deputy commissioner of police, Greater Noida.

The burnt remains of Yadav were discovered late Tuesday night when locals noticed the vehicle in flames and informed the police. Following a swift investigation, authorities arrested the two suspects within hours of the crime.

“We received information around 11.20pm, and a fire tender from Dadri fire station was dispatched. When firefighters reached the spot, it was found that the car was parked in the forest area. With the help of one fire tender, we managed to douse the flames within an hour. A man was spotted in the driver’s seat in the burning car, but he appeared motionless,” said an officer of the Greater Noida fire brigade.

“The two accused have been taken into custody, and we are further investigating the motive behind the murder. Initial findings point to a financial dispute,” a senior police officer said.

The man’s remains were recovered and sent for a post-mortem examination. A forensic team, along with a dog squad, was brought in to examine the crime scene and assist in the investigation.

The case is under investigation as authorities continue to gather evidence and question the accused.

Rajesh Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ghaziabad (City), stated that the Greater Noida police must establish that the murder occurred within their jurisdiction. “If they are unable to do so, we cannot register the case at Kavi Nagar police station, as the body and vehicle were discovered in Greater Noida’s jurisdiction,” he explained.
