Greater Noida Dowry Murder Update: In a major development in the Greater Noida dowry murder case, deceased Nikki Bhati’s father-in-law and brother-in-law have been arrested by Noida Police on Monday. With this, the total number of arrests in the case so far stands at four, with Nikki’s mother-in-law and husband, Vipin Bhati arrested on Sunday.

Notably, Nikki’s husband, Vipin, is accused of murdering her over dowry demands. He was injured in a police encounter and was sent to a 14-day Judicial Custody.
Greater Noida ADCP Sudhir Kumar told ANI about the arrests made in case, stating that the family of the deceased is still in shock.
“The case was registered by the deceased’s sister… All four accused have been arrested… The family of the deceased is still in shock. Their statements will be recorded, and based on that, the investigation will proceed… All these visuals have become viral on social media, but the police have not recovered any such evidence. We have started the investigation, and it will proceed based on the evidence and facts that come forward… The husband of the deceased has been sent to judicial custody,” said Kumar.

About The Case
In a deeply disturbing incident, Nikki was murdered by her husband on August 21 in Sirsa village, Greater Noida. Horrifying footage showed her walking down the stairs while on fire after being brutally thrashed by her husband and in-laws. She had married the accused, Vipin, in 2016.
The case came to light after her elder sister, Kanchan, who is married into the same family, filed a police complaint against her in-laws following the incident. She accused them of thrashing her sister and torturing both of them for a dowry of Rs 36 lakh just six months after Nikki’s marriage.
Videos circulating on social media showed Vipin, who was shirtless, with another woman pulling the victim by her hair. Blood could be seen on his stomach and back as he beat her up. In other video clips, Nikki was seen walking down the stairs and sitting on the floor while on fire. Burn injuries were clearly visible in the heart-wrenching footage.
Nikki was initially rushed to Fortis Hospital in Noida but was later referred to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her burn injuries on the way. Her husband has been arrested, while a case has been registered against her mother-in-law Daya, brother-in-law Rohit, father-in-law Satveer, and sister-in-law under different sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
