There is a good news for Greater Noida residents as they will soon get access to Ganga water supply. The Noida Authority has planned to extend Ganga water supply to sectors along the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway. The service is likely to start this month. The authority officials stated that a project featuring a 5.5 km pipeline from sector 69 UGR to 137 and 132 is in its final stages. The pipeline is expected to be operational by February 15.
Noida Authority Plans Expansion
The officials further informed that this extension project is part of a broader 80-cusec Ganga water supply system. Notably, this water supply system at present caters to 75% of the city’s population. A report had earlier revealed that the network of water pipeline which comprised sections of various sectors was damaged at multiple points. Following this inspection, the Noida Authority had approved a budget of Rs 4.9 crore for repair work of pipeline. Officials confirmed that the damaged sections were repaired with trials scheduled to start soon before it was connected with the main supply network.

This expansion will benefit several residential areas along the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway. The sectors which will get water supply service are 128, 129, 130, 131, 132, 134, and 135.

TOI quoted Noida Authority CEO, Dr. Lokesh M who stated that the water department has been working on this project for long. He added, “Now, residents off the expressway will get clean and reliable water supply. Officials have assured me that Ganga water supply would start by the middle of February.”
