Good News! Foundation Stone Laid For Gurugram Metro Phase 1 Project – How Will It Benefit Commuters

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini took part in the bhoomi pujan of Gurugram Metro Rail at Sector-44. He stated that the project is more than just bricks and stones, while reflecting on the state government’s resolution of economic progress and citizens’ convenience.

Gurugram Metro Phase 1 Project: There is good news for Gurugram commuters, as the foundation stone for the first phase of the Gurugram Metro project was laid on Friday, September 5. Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini took part in the bhoomi pujan of Gurugram Metro Rail at Sector-44. He stated that the project is more than just bricks and stones, while reflecting on the state government’s resolution of economic progress and citizens’ convenience. While addressing the gathering, CM Saini emphasised that Gurugram, which is rapidly emerging as an IT and industry hub, needs modern mode of transport and the metro project is a step in that direction.

“Gurugam was once a small town. Today, it is emerging as an IT and industry hub. But this rapidly expanding city always needed an empowered and modern mode of transport. This dream of Metro Rail is not a project of just bricks and stones. But it is related to our resolve of the economic progress of our city, environmental conservation and citizens’ convenience,” CM Saini stated.

What’s The Project & How Will It Benefit Commuters

With the bhoomi Pujan, construction for the first phase of Gurugram Metro will now kick off. The first phase involves the construction of a 15.22 km elevated metro viaduct, 15 stations, a 1.85 km spur connecting to the Dwarka Expressway, and a ramp leading to the proposed depot in Sector 33. The contract for this phase has been awarded to a joint venture at a cost of Rs 1,277 crore, excluding GST.

Once operational, the metro is expected to significantly reduce traffic congestion and pollution in the city. It is set to transform the transport infrastructure and connectivity across the National Capital Region, offering benefits to daily commuters. It will save time and emerge as a pocket friendly travel option.

The metro stations to be constructed in phase 1 include Millennium City Centre, that will be connected to present DMRC station through an interchange, Sector 45, Cyber Park (Sector 46), Sector 47, Subhash Chowk, Sector 48, Sector 33, Hero Honda Chowk, Udyog Vihar phase six, Sector 10, Sector 37, Basai, Sector 9 and Sector 101.
