The incident came to light when Deepshikha’s domestic help, Mini, became concerned when she did not return home by 11 pm. Mini then noticed the tenants, Ajay and Akriti trying to leave with a red-coloured suitcase. When confronted, the accused claimed they had already paid the rent, Rs 90,000 and that owner had left. The couple added that they were going shopping and had booked an auto, which unsettled Mini. Suspicious of their behaviour, the house help alerted society residents and asked the security guard to check. The police were informed subsequently, who later uncovered the plot.
