Ghaziabad: In a significant move that is set to revolutionize the process of obtaining driving licenses in Ghaziabad, the Regional Transport Office (RTO) is making strides towards greater accessibility and transparency. Gone are the days of navigating through complex procedures and relying on middlemen to secure a driving license. With the advent of Driving Training Institutes (DTIs), citizens can now take charge of their license application process like never before.
From complexity to simplicity
Previously, a staggering 250 to 300 driving licenses were issued every month at the RTO office in Ghaziabad. This included both new learning licenses and renewals. The convoluted process often led individuals to resort to middlemen, who promised a way out of the bureaucratic maze. However, this practice is now undergoing a transformation.
Learning, renewal made easy
The new initiative focuses on making the process of obtaining a driving license simpler and more accessible. Learning licenses and renewals are part of this initiative, ensuring that citizens no longer need to rely on intermediaries to navigate the cumbersome system.
The central government’s vision for a streamlined driving license process has spurred developments at the local level. In April 2022, plans were set in motion to establish Driving Training Institutes (DTIs) in each district. The news has been met with enthusiasm at the Ghaziabad RTO office. Proposals for the establishment of two DTIs in the district have been submitted to the authorities.
Easing the path to licensing
The proposed DTIs will occupy three acres of land each in Dasna and Duhai. These institutes will offer comprehensive driving training, ensuring that aspiring drivers are well-equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge. Upon completing the training program, candidates will receive a certificate, allowing them to apply for a driving license online. This innovative approach eliminates the need for individuals to navigate the RTO office maze.
Government approval and implementation
According to Rahul Srivastav, the appointed official at the RTO, two companies have proposed plans for setting up the DTIs. These proposals include detailed layouts for the allocated land. Both companies have adhered to the central government’s standards. The proposals are now awaiting approval from the higher authorities in Lucknow. Once the green light is received, the establishment of DTIs will mark a significant step towards streamlining the driving license application process.
