Greater Noida News: The Gautam Budha Nagar district administration has issued an alert about the possible flood in the low-lying areas in view of rising water levels in the Hindon River and Yamuna River.
It is noted that the downpour in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand is leading to the Yamuna rising so the district administration of Greater Noida Authority has increased its monitoring around the low-lying areas. According to the latest report, the water level of Yamuna and Hindon can be increased at any time depending on the rain in Uttarakhand. According to the irrigation department report, the water level of both the river is stable for the last 24 hours.
Administration on toes
According to the Greater Noida authority, the water level of Yamuna at Okhla Barrage was recorded at 196.00m on Sunday evening. The water discharge in the river on Sunday evening was 11,807 cusecs at Okhla Barrage. It is noted the red alert for Yamuna is set at 200.60 meters. While the alert at Hindon River is at 199.15 m.
The water discharge at the Hindon River was recorded at 3075 cusecs. Last few days, around 60 villages were affected due to these two rivers. Nearly 8000 people from these villages have been evacuated and moved to safer places. Therefore, in view of incessant rain in Himachal and Uttarakhand, the district administration is geared up to deal with the possible flood situation.
Evacuation
Additional district magistrate, Gautam Budha Nagar, Atul Kumar has informed that the water level of Yamuna and Hindon is stable for the last 24 hours. The district administration has issued an advisory to the residents of low-lying areas near Hindon and also requested them to get ready for the evacuation in view of rising water levels in both rivers.
People stranded
It is noted that thousands of people reside in the low-lying areas of the Yamuna and Hindon rivers. Many people suffered due to the rise of water level in both rivers a few days back. Many people have become stranded and homeless. These houses are made on the banks of the rivers. Once again the people remain disturbed due to the flood warning in these areas.
