New Delhi: As Delhi gears up for the upcoming G20 Summit, preparations are in full swing, but the city’s regular routines face significant disruptions. The Northern Railway has released a list of more than 300 trains that will be impacted due to heightened security measures during the global event set to unfold in the national capital on September 9 and 10.
Train services disrupted
In light of the security advisory for the G20 Summit, the Northern Railway has made temporary changes to train services from September 8 to 11. A total of 207 train services are temporarily canceled, terminals for 15 trains have been shifted, and routes for six trains have been redirected.

Seeking passenger comfort
Efforts are underway to minimize passenger inconvenience during this period. The railway authorities have provided additional stoppages at various stations for 70 trains. This includes prominent trains such as the Jammu Tawi-New Delhi Rajdhani, Tejas Rajdhani Hazrat Nizamuddin, and Varanasi-New Delhi Tejas Rajdhani.
Travel advisory for passengers
Passengers who have travel plans during these days are advised to double-check train schedules and routes to avoid any potential disruptions. A railway official emphasized the importance of verifying travel details in advance to ensure a smooth journey.
Altered starting and ending stations
The starting and ending stations of 36 trains have been changed as part of the G20 Summit preparations. Additionally, three trains will not be making a stop at Delhi’s Kishan Ganj station during the summit period.
Dress rehearsals and traffic regulations
The Delhi Police conducted comprehensive dress rehearsals for the G20 Summit, including the movement of convoys from various locations within the city. To stay updated on real-time traffic information and route recommendations for travel to/from the airport, railway stations, or bus terminals, individuals are advised to consult the ‘G-20 Virtual Help Desk.’
Traffic regulations in effect
Several areas in Delhi, including Mahatma Gandhi Marg, IP Flyover, Rajghat Chowk, Shanti Van Chowk, Saleem Garh Bypas, Bhairon Road, Ring Road, and others, will experience traffic regulations on Sunday. It is imperative for residents and commuters to plan their routes accordingly to avoid potential traffic chaos during the G20 Summit.
