New Delhi: In preparations of the G20 Summit, the Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora wrote a letter to Delhi Metro Railway Corporation (DMRC) CEO Vikas Kumar asking the latter to start the metro services in the national capital early on September 8, 9 and 10.

In the letter, the DCP requested to beging services from 4:00 AM to facilitate the travel of police officers involved in security arrangements at the G20 Summit that will host leaders around the world.

“In view of the traffic restrictions in the venue-affected areas, primarily NDMC and South West District areas being put in place, the police and other support staff will be greatly facilitated if the Metro Services on 08th, 09th and 10th can begin from about 0400 hrs. this will enable hassle-free travel of staff and timely reporting at the two prime venues i.e. IECC/ITPO and Rajghat,” the letter read.

He cited, “Since the arrangements at the Summit Venue I.e., IECC, ITPO and Rajghat shall begin from early morning hours, the reporting time for staff for these venues has been kept from 0500 hours onwards.”

Arora adds that due to the G20 summit in the country’s capital, Delhi Police in collaboration with various stakeholders have deployed security, public order and complex traffic arrangements with a total of about 40,000 people, will be done on a large scale implemented from September 7.

He also mentioned that Special Police Commissioner (Transport Division) Nuzhat Hassan would be ready to provide any clarifications and details on the fulfillment of this request.

G20 Summit In India

India is set to host the G20 summit in New Delhi on September 9-10. World leaders will travel to New Delhi for the G20 summit.

The main event of the G20 is going to be held at the state-of-the-art Bharat Mandapam Convention Center in Pragati Maidan in the national capital. Notably, India assumed the G20 presidency on December 1st last year and around 200 G20-related meetings were held in 60 cities across the country.
