New Delhi: Ahead of the G-20 summit, Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena on Thursday directed the Police to keep track of posts along with the trends on social media especially with regards to rumour mongering and inflammatory contents.

The directions came following the meeting chaired by the Delhi LG to review the security preparedness in view of the G- summit in the national capital.

According to the Sources at Raj Niwas, During the meeting, Saxena directed Delhi Police to keep track of posts and trends on social media especially with regards to rumour mongering and inflammatory posts / contents.

“LG informed that 60 DCPs had been drafted to oversee and manage specific task related to the G-20 Summit that included security, in and around the Summit venue, IGI Airport, designated Hotels, sites designated for visits by spouses and traffic routes of the visiting delegations,” they said.

“A DCP each has been assigned responsibilities of all Hotels housing the delegates, locations where meetings will be held, and locations where spouses will be visiting in course of their visits.  DCPs have also been put in charge of routes to be undertaken by the visiting dignitaries,” they said.

“Delhi LG issued several instructions including to maintain law and order in general and security of women and other vulnerable groups in particular be ensured, even as focus remains on the security related concern of the Summit,” Sources stated.

“LG asked the police to ensure cordial behavior with delegates, tourists and public at large, at all times by police personnel, Continuous vigil on part of the police for prevention of unlawful gatherings that may lead to public nuisance. All borders to be sealed with an aim of preventing unwarranted entry into the city,” Sources underlined.

Apart from this, Saxena said that police have to warn the bad characters and identified notorious elements, Field police personnel to convey any lacunae on the ground with regards to sanitation, defacement and road maintenance etc. to the concerned departments, Crime control strategy to be scrupulously implemented with maximum and visible police presence across the city,” they told.

“Special focus on malls, markets, monuments and places of worship with QRTs / Commando Units and Strike Forces with Special Vehicles – Vikrant, Elaborate contingency plan in and around hospitals to facilitate emergency medical care, Parking at all places at all times by all agencies including Delhi Police to be in compliance with rules,” Sources added.
