Expressway Update: Faridabad-Noida-Ghaziabad Expressway To Kickstart After Being Stuck For 5 Years?

While the DPR is expected to take two to three months, authorities are yet to finalize the agency responsible for constructing the expressway. In a recent meeting, officials from Haryana PWD, NHAI, and the UP Government expressed support for transferring the project to NHAI, as it could involve funding of approximately Rs 900 crore.

The Public Works Department is gearing up to launch the Faridabad–Noida–Ghaziabad Expressway soon. However, uncertainty still surrounds the handling of the proposed work. Despite the project’s announcement in 2019, five years have passed, and the government is yet to decide on the agency to execute it. Among the agencies vying for the project are the Public Works Department (PWD), Faridabad Metropolitan Development Authority (FMDA), and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).

What Does The Report Say?

According to sources in the district administration, while the PWD recently submitted a report on the project alignment, work on preparing the detailed project report (DPR) is yet to begin, the Tribune reported.

Salient Features Of The Project

The FNG project will connect Faridabad, Noida and Ghaziabad. Around Rs 900 crore will be invested on the construction and land acquisition of the project. This will provide relief to people traveling from Faridabad to Noida and Ghaziabad as it will make the journey comfortable for commuters travelling using that route. The FNG expressway will enhance better connectivity between the three cities (Noida, Ghaziabad and Faridabad). According to PWD officials, the expressway will start from Greater Faridabad Sector 87. From this point a 99-km road will be constructed through Khedi Village to Yamuna Bank in Lalpur village.

Cost Of The Project

A 600-meter-long bridge will be built on Yamuna to connect the two ends. It will get connected to Mangroli village in Noida via this bridge. This cost of this bridge will be around Rupees 500 crore.

As per the DPR prepared by the Public Works Department, the project will cost around Rupees 900 crore. An official in PWD said that, the cost of the project will be around Rupees 900 crore. This money will be spent on land acquisition, bridge construction and road construction etc.
