Delhi: The BJP has made a remarkable comeback in Delhi after 27 years, securing a resounding victory against the incumbent AAP. The results were declared on February 8, but no official information regarding the swearing-in ceremony of the BJP government has been released yet. The name of the next Chief Minister has also not been announced. This has created suspense among people who are eagerly awaiting government formation.
BJP Govt Set For Swearing-In By February 20?
However, latest reports have suggested that the swearing-in ceremony of the BJP government in Delhi is likely to take place on February 19 or 20, as stated by the party leaders.
A party leader stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is returning from his foreign visit, and shortly after, observers for a meeting of the BJP legislature party will be appointed. He asserted that the new government will start working around February 19-20.
Earlier, it was said that the swearing-in ceremony of the new BJP government is expected to take place only after February 15, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on a U.S. tour from February 12 to 13. The oath-taking will happen only after his return, stated the reports.
The BJP did not announce a Chief Ministerial candidate ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections. Instead, as in other state polls, the party rallied behind Prime Minister Narendra Modi as its central figure. Now, with a decisive victory secured, speculation is mounting over who will take on the role of Delhi’s next Chief Minister. Candidates whose name are topping the speculation list include Parvesh Verma, Vijender Gupta, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Jitendra Mahajan, Bansuri Swaraj and Smriti Irani.
