Delhi: Woman Attacks Husband In Sleep with Boiling Oil, Chilli Powder, Police Say

The police registered a case against Dinesh’s wife under sections 118 (voluntarily causing hurt or grievous hurt using dangerous weapons or means), 124 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by acid), and 326 (mischief by injury, inundation, fire, or explosive substance, etc.) of the BNS.

In a shocking incident, a woman allegedly poured boiling oil and chilli powder on her husband while he was asleep in Delhi’s Madangir area.

According to a report published by PTI, the victim has been identified as 28-year-old Dinesh, who works with a pharmaceutical company. He was admitted to Safdarjung Hospital with severe burn injuries on October 3.

As per an FIR lodged with the police, the victim stated that he returned home from work, had food, and went to bed. His wife and a daughter were also sleeping nearby. The victim further stated that around 3:15 a.m., he felt a burning pain and saw that his wife was pouring boiling oil and chilli powder on him.

He soon started screaming in pain. His wife threatened that she would pour more oil if he continued to scream. Unable to resist the pain, Dinesh’s neighbours and his landlord rushed to the terrace of his rented accommodation.

The landlord took Dinesh to a hospital in an auto, but the doctors referred him to Safdarjung Hospital. The police registered a case against Dinesh’s wife under sections 118 (voluntarily causing hurt or grievous hurt using dangerous weapons or means), 124 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by acid), and 326 (mischief by injury, inundation, fire, or explosive substance, etc.) of the BNS.

In a separate incident,  A massive fire broke out at the Lakshmi Ganapathi Fireworks unit in Komaripalem village of Andhra Pradesh’s Ambedkar Konaseema district, killing six and injuring four people on Wednesday afternoon.

According to the Rayavaram police station, a fire broke out while workers were engaged in fireworks manufacturing work. The witnesses from nearby villages were horrified by the devastating scene, as many workers were inside the unit at the time of the accident and could not escape as the flames spread rapidly.

However, police officials, revenue authorities, and senior officers from the fire department quickly arrived at the scene to assess the situation. Later, the injured individuals were taken to the Rajamahendravaram Government Hospital for more comprehensive medical treatment, and authorities are currently working to identify the victims.
