Delhi Weather Update: Rainy Spell To Continue In Capital, IMD Forecasts Cloudy Skies And Light Showers Till July 17

As monsoon arrives in full swing, the Weather Body has predicted a generally cloudy sky over Delhi. Occasionally, very light to light rain, followed by thunderstorms and lightning, will lash the city from July 12 to 17.

Delhi Weather Update: After reeling under intense summer heat for weeks, the monsoon has finally set foot in the national capital. The rain-soaked streets have washed away pollutants, improving air quality. However, the cooler temperatures come with potential disruptions, as showers in Delhi-NCR have led to waterlogging in several areas. Residents might get some relief from the hot and humid conditions, as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast rain to continue until July 17.

As the monsoon arrives in full swing, the weather department has predicted a generally cloudy sky over Delhi. Intermittent very light to light rain, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, is expected to lash the city from July 12 to 17. Temperatures are also likely to remain below 35 degrees Celsius, providing a refreshing break from humidity.

The steady increase in rainfall activity is attributed to a western disturbance and a trough. In its latest press release, IMD said, “The monsoon trough at mean sea level passes through Bikaner, Sikar, Shivpuri, Siddhi, Jamshedpur, Contai and thence southeastwards to the northeast Bay of Bengal.” The Met Department further added, “The upper air cyclonic circulation over Haryana & neighbourhood now lies over Punjab and neighbourhood between 1.5 & 3.1 km above mean sea level.”

Precautionary Measures

  • Check for traffic jams on your route before leaving for your destination.
  • Follow official traffic advisories that are issued in this regard.
  • Don’t go to areas that face waterlogging problems often.
  • Avoid staying in vulnerable structure.
