Delhi Weather Update: Rain And Thunderstorm To Lash Capital, Stormy Weekend Ahead – Check Forecast

The weather for the weekend is expected to remain pleasant, with IMD forecast of thunderstorms and rain until Sunday, May 25.

Delhi: Delhi is expected to witness extended relief as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a partly cloudy sky with the possibility of thunder and lightning on Friday. Very light to light rain is likely to lash the national capital today. Delhi has been experiencing light spells of rain over the past few days. A Thunderstorm accompanied by rain hit the capital on Wednesday, significantly lowering the temperature and providing much-needed respite. The IMD has observed a marked fall in the maximum temperature over the past 24 hours in Delhi, which is currently in the range of 34-35°C.

Forecast For Friday, May 23

For Friday, May 23, the IMD predicts very light to light rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning to lash Delhi. Partly cloudy skies are expected today. Moreover, gusty winds blowing at 30 to 40 km/h may increase temporarily up to 50 km/h during the thunderstorms, bringing dust-raising conditions toward the evening and night. The maximum temperature is expected to remain in the range of 34-35°C. A yellow alert has been issued for stormy weather.

May 24: Very light to light rain/thunderstorm/lightning and gusty winds (speed 20-30 kmph) temporarily reaching to 40 kmph during thunderstorm with dust raising winds have been forecast. The maximum temperature will remain 40°C.

May 25: There is possibility of thunderstorm with rain on Sunday. Partly cloudy sky is predicted with maximum temperature of 38°C.

Monsoon Update

The conditions are also likely to become favourable for further advance of southwest Monsoon over some more parts of South Arabian Sea, remaining parts of Maldives and Comorin area; some parts of Lakshadweep area, Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and South & Central Bay of Bengal, North Bay of Bengal and some parts of Northeastern states during the same period.

The Northern Limit of Monsoon continues to pass through 5°N/60°E, 6°N/65°E, 7°N/70°E, 7°N/75°E, 10°N/81°E, 13°N/84.5°E, 16°N/88°E, 19.5°N/91°E and 23°N/95°E.
