Delhi Weather Update: Hot Spell Hits Capital! IMD Issues Yellow Heatwave Alert Until April 10 – Check Full Forecast

Not just Delhi, but several other states across India are reeling under scorching heat. An orange alert for heatwave has been issued for Gujarat from April 8 to 10.

Delhi is going to reel under hot weather for three days, with maximum temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for heatwave alert until April 10. This marks the first heatwave alert of the season in the national capital. According to the IMD, there has been an appreciable rise in maximum temperatures over Delhi-NCR during the past 24 hours. With the rising temperatures, humidity levels have also increased. Not just Delhi, but several other states across India are reeling under scorching heat. An orange alert for heatwave has been issued for Gujarat from April 8 to 10.

Delhi Weather Update: Forecast For Tuesday, April 8

Talking about how the weather will be today in Delhi, the IMD forecast tells us of scorching heat. The maximum temperature is expected to reach 40 degrees Celsius. A maximum humidity level of 45 per cent has been predicted in the national capital. The sky will remain mainly clear. Residents will continue to face challenges, as yellow alert for heatwave has been issued for Tuesday, April 8. According to the IMD, the Maximum and Minimum temperature is currently in the range of 39 to 41°C in Delhi.

Forecast For Next 5 Five Days

Delhiites will face heatwave conditions until April 10, for which the IMD has issued an alert also. The maximum temperature has been predicted over 40 degrees Celsius on all three days.

April 8: 40°C
April 9: 41°C
April 10: 41°C
April 11: 40°C
April 12: 38°C
April 13: 38°C

The sky will remain clear until April 9 and will turn partly cloudy from April 10 and remain so until April 13.  Residents are expected to see little relief on April 10, as thunderstorm and gusty winds with high speed have been forecasted for Thursday. Strong surface winds have been predicted for April 12 also. No heatwave conditions is likely after April 10 this week.


IMD Director General Warns Of Hot Summer Ahead

IMD Director General Dr Mrutyunjay Mohapatra earlier warned of an exceptionally hot summer ahead. He ruled out the presence of El Nino conditions for the upcoming monsoon and alerted of hot summer season. He told ANI, “We are not expecting El Nino conditions during the monsoon season. April- June to be hotter than usual, with more heatwave days likely in many states.”

Precautionary Measures

As the temperature is increasing in Delhi, residents are advised to take precautionary measures to protect themselves from the effects of hot weather. Keeping in view the weather forecast for April 8-13, and heatwave alert, people are advised to stay cautious. They should stay hydrated, cover themselves when going outdoors, carry umbrellas and include water-rich fruits and vegetables in their diets. They should refrain from engaging in heavy physical activities during the day.
