Delhi Weather Update: AQI slides to 'poor'; City braces for chilling temperatures amid a cold wave alert.

Delhi Weather Update: Delhi woke up to a biting chill on Thursday morning, shrouded by smog in several locations. Amid a dip in temperature, the national capital registered a slight improvement in pollution levels from the previous days. The Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 298 at 9 am under the ‘poor’ quality on December 4, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

Several monitoring stations, however, reported AQI readings in the ‘very poor’ range today. The morning commute caused discomfort to many as the cold wind swept through the city. Meanwhile, a layer of toxic smog engulfed the national capital region during the early morning hours, sparking health concerns among the residents.

The area around Akshardham was shrouded by a haze of smog as the AQI dipped to 308 under the ‘very poor’ category today. Rao Tula Ram Marg (344), Ghazipur (318), and Anand Vihar (318) also witnessed reduced visibility after the air quality declined to very poor levels.

AQI Readings In Other Areas Of Delhi Today

Wazirpur registered an AQI of 269 under the ‘poor’ category this morning, while the air quality plummeted to 228 in Sonia Vihar. ‘Moderate’ AQI of 180 was recorded in the Chandni Chowk area at 9 am today.

AQI plunged to 277 in Jahangirpuri, while nsit Dwarka recorded an air quality index of 377 at 9 am on December 3. The other areas include Rohini (277), Bawana (311), Vivek Vihar (274), Patparganj (267), Nehru Nagar (271), Siri Fort (255), Ashok Vihar (261), Okhla Phase 2 (246), Lodhi Road 2 (198), Najafgarh (197), and Sri Aurobindo Marg (214).

Delhi Weather Forecast: IMD issues yellow alert on..

The AQI is unlikely to improve anytime soon in Delhi-NCR. There is no forecast for rain in the next six days. Delhi will see a mainly cloudy sky on December 5, with shallow fog blanketing the city during the early morning hours. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) sounded a yellow alert on Friday.

Partly cloudy sky along with shallow fog is expected over the capital on December 6 and 7. Thereafter, till December 8, skies will mostly remain clear. Shallow fag will continue to blanket the city until December 10.

Delhi AQI: Check Forecast For Next Two Days

According to the Air Quality Early Warning System for Delhi, the air quality will likely be in the ‘very poor’ category until December 6, 2025. The outlook for the subsequent 6 Days shows the AQI in the ‘very poor’ category.
