Delhi AQI: Delhi's air quality remains a serious concern, with no relief expected in the coming days. The capital, however, registered a 'poor' AQI of 293 on Tuesday, December 9, after reeling under the 'very poor' category on Monday. Amid a slight improvement in the pollution levels, a cold wave and smog gripped the city during the early morning hours.

Pollution levels are, however, likely to deteriorate, slipping into the 'very poor' or 'severe' range in the coming days. Several monitoring stations recorded AQI readings under the ‘very poor’ category today. The area around Ghazipur and Anand Vihar was covered by a layer of 'toxic' smog as the AQI plunged to 319 under the ‘poor’ category, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

AQI readings in other areas of Delhi Today

The Chandni Chowk area registered a ‘poor’ AQI of 299 at 8 am on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Wazirpur recorded an AQI of 234 under the ‘poor’ category this morning, while the air quality plummeted to 212 in Sonia Vihar.

AQI slipped to 229 in Jahangirpuri, while Patparganj recorded an AQI of 197 at 8 am on December 9. The other areas include Rohini (236), Bawana (261), Vivek Vihar (229), Nehru Nagar (207), Siri Fort (193), Ashok Vihar (211), Dilshad garden (180), Okhla Phase 2 (196), Lodhi Road 2 (175), Najafgarh (179), and Sri Aurobindo Marg (223).

Delhi weather forecast for next 5 days

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast no rain in the capital for the next five days. Delhiites witnessed a mainly clear sky today, with mist/haze during the morning hours. The Weather Body has warned of surface wind blowing at a speed of 15 to 20 Kmph during the daytime.

Mainly clear sky along with shallow fog is expected to prevail over the capital on December 10th and 11th. Thereafter, on the 12th, 13th, and 14th, skies will remain partly cloudy, with shallow fog continuing to blanket the city.

Delhi AQI: Check forecast for next two days

According to the Air Quality Early Warning System for Delhi, the air quality will likely be in the ‘very poor’ category from December 9 to 11. The outlook for the subsequent 6 Days shows the AQI in the ‘very poor’ to 'severe' category.
