Delhi was shrouded in thick fog on Saturday as cold wave gripped the capital. Amid blocked visibility, at least 400 flights were reportedly delayed impacting smooth operations. Additionally, around 75 trains experienced set back at the New Delhi railway station.

Meanwhile, the airlines Air India and IndiGo issued traffic advisory recommending passengers to check their flight status before heading to the airport. The airport authorities also urged the passengers to opt for an alternate flight or claim a refund conveniently, if their flight is cancelled.
Additionally, visibility near airports – Palam, Safdarjung, Amritsar, Agra, Hindon, Chandigarh and Gwalior was also reduced to zero, IMD reported.
Among the affected trains were Katra Vande Bharat, Chandigarh Madgaon Express, Varanasi Vande Bharat, Lucknow Shatabdi, etc.

The harsh winter came down heavily on the people, especially the homeless who were seen spending their nights in shelter homes.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the national capital recorded 10.2°C during the early hours of Saturday.
The air quality slipped to the ‘very poor’ category in Delhi/NCR for the second consecutive day on Saturday. The overall AQI was recorded as 385 at 6 am amid low visibility due to dense fog, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
