New Delhi: The bustling streets of Delhi are about to face a traffic mayhem as preparations for the highly anticipated G-20 Summit, scheduled to be held in the capital of India, Delhi, are in full swing. To ensure everything runs smoothly, extensive dress rehearsals are slated for both Saturday and Sunday, mirroring the forthcoming September 9th and 10th events.

Early convoy chaos

On Saturday, starting around 8:30 am, a convoy of vehicles from various hotels will embark on a journey to the convention venue at Pragati Maidan. This means that from 8:30 am to 12 noon, several areas in New Delhi are expected to experience significant disruptions.

Evening traffic woes

Later in the day, at 4:30 pm, the convoys will make their way back to their respective hotels from Pragati Maidan. This return journey might affect traffic in parts of New Delhi between 4:30 pm and 6 pm. Then, at 7 pm, the convoys will return from the hotels to Pragati Maidan for a gala dinner, followed by their departure after 10 pm, causing potential traffic issues from 7 pm to 11 pm.

Raj Ghat affected

On Sunday, traffic disruptions are anticipated in and around Raj Ghat, in addition to New Delhi. Commuters are advised to plan accordingly to avoid potential delays caused by the dress rehearsal activities.

Rashtrapati Bhavan closure

As part of the G-20 Summit preparations, Rashtrapati Bhavan, a popular tourist attraction, will remain closed to the general public from September 1st to September 10th.

Alternatively, go from AIIMS Chowk to Ring Road Dhaula Kuan, Ring Road, Brar Square, Naraina Flyover, Rajouri Garden Junction, Punjabi Bagh Junction, and Azadpur Chowk.

East-West Routes

For east-west travel, take the following routes: DND Flyover via Ring Road, Ashram Chowk, Moolchand Underpass, AIIMS Chowk, Dhaula Kuan, Brar Square, Narayana Flyover, Yudhishthir Setu, Boulevard Road, Rani Jhansi Road, New Rohtak Road, and Punjabi Bagh Chowk.
