Delhi: Three Killed as Bike Crashes Into Unmarked Divider

The deceased were identified as Sumit, Mohit, and Anurag, who was Mohit’s cousin. All were residents of Nangloi.

In a tragic incident, three men, including two cousins, were killed after their bike rammed into an unmarked jersey barrier on the Libaspur flyover on GT Road in the national capital. They were returning after having dinner in Haryana’s Murthal.

According to PTI, the police received an alert around 1:33 am about the accident in Outer North Delhi. A police team rushed to the spot and found three men lying unconscious near their damaged Royal Enfield bike.

The deceased were identified as Sumit, Mohit, and Anurag, who was Mohit’s cousin. All were residents of Nangloi.

“All three died on the spot. Preliminary investigation revealed that the victims were returning from Haryana’s Murthal after dinner when their speeding motorcycle hit a concrete jersey barrier placed on the flyover. None of the three was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer North) Hareshwar Swami said in a statement.

The officer said that a case has been registered under sections 281 (rash driving) and 106(1) (causing death by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

“Efforts were also made to trace eyewitnesses, but none were found. We are also looking into the CCTV footage of the entire incident to understand the sequence of the events,” said the DCP.
