The air quality index in Delhi has slipped back to the ‘poor’ category, with an AQI of 215 recorded on Saturday at 7 am, according to the Central Pollution Control Board. The air quality in the national capital had improved to the ‘moderate’ category the previous day. Delhi-NCR has been facing persistent air pollution for the past month.

AQI recorded from other parts of Delhi: Anand Vihar (299), Ashok Vihar (221), Jahangirpuri (264), Dwarka-Sector 8 (244), Pusa (193), Punjabi Bagh (208), Okhla Phase-2 (200), Rohini (238), Wazirpur (243).

Delhi’s AQI fluctuated between the ‘very severe,’ ‘severe,’ ‘very poor,’ and ‘poor’ categories post-Diwali. Residents in the region complained of breathing difficulties and several other health problems.
GRAP IV Relaxation
Supreme Court on Thursday had allowed the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) to relax GRAP stage IV restrictions in Dehli-NCR to GRAP stage II in view of the improvement in the Air Quality Index (AQI).
The Delhi Government Directorate of Education also issued an order on Thursday and announced the resumption of normal physical classes in schools across the Delhi NCR region.
Schools Resume In Physical Mode
The order read, “All the Government, Govt.-Aided, Unaided Recognized Private Schools of DoE, NDMC, MCD and Delhi Cantonment Board are informed that the circulars or related orders issued are revoked. Thus, all classes in all schools are to be held in physical mode with immediate effect.”
Schools in the national capital resumed following the order.
CM Atishi Inspects Electric Bus Depot
Delhi Chief Minister Atishi visited the Burari Electric Bus Depot on Friday and inspected the charging infrastructure and facilities available for buses. She said that adopting electric buses was a major step in the direction to curb rising air pollution in the national capital.
Delhi CM Atishi said in a press release said, “For the past seven to eight years, Delhi has been battling pollution, especially during October, November, and December when the air quality worsens significantly. When pollution levels began to rise, Arvind Kejriwal emphasised that while the stubble burning outside Delhi contributes to the issue, the city would take every possible step to combat pollution. Adopting electric buses was a major move in this direction.”

Rahul Gandhi To Raise Pollution Issue In Parliament
Meanwhile, Lok Sabha LoP and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday, had met with a delegation of citizens and environment experts to discuss the issue of air pollution in the country. He had assured them of raising the issue of pollution in the Parliament and advocate for bringing “swift action” on their demands.
