Delhi Pollution: The air quality in the national capital continues to remain in the ‘very poor’ category. The AQI was recorded at 313 on Monday at 6 am, according to the CPCB. A sharp increase in AQI levels of Delhi has been observed in past few days. Unfavourable meteorological conditions have added to the worsening air quality levels. Reasons for the increasing trend include variable direction/ calm winds, smoggy situation, low mixing heights and ventilation coefficients for dispersion of pollutants. A layer of thing fog enveloped over parts of Delhi on Monday morning. Foggy conditions have further added to the deteriorating air quality levels.

Weather Forecast For Delhi
While residents continue to battle air pollution, there has been shift in Delhi’s weather pattern. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued yellow alert for dense fog in the national capital. The sky will remain generally cloudy with light rain or drizzle. The change in weather condition has been caused by the active weather disturbance. According to IMD forecast, the maximum and minimum temperature will remain 22 and 9 degrees Celsius.

AQI Forecast For Coming Days
The AQI is expected to reel under ‘poor’ and ‘very poor’ categories in coming days. The Air Quality Early Warning System for Delhi has predicted that it is likely to be in the Very Poor category from 3 to 4 February. The AQI is likely to be in the Poor category on 5 February and subsequent 6 Days.
Rain on 3rd and 4th February is expected to bring respite from the ‘very poor’ air quality.
