The air quality in the National Capital continues to remain in the ‘Poor’ category for the second consecutive day this week. The AQI was recorded at 259 on Tuesday at 6 am, according to the CPCB. After a brief respite from pollution, the air quality deteriorated back to the ‘Poor’ category on Monday and has continued to remain in that range. Delhi had seen a significant improvement in air quality levels when it improved to the ‘Moderate’ category on the 25th and 26th of January. Favourable meteorological conditions, such as surface winds and light rain had led to the improvement in the AQI.

Delhi Weather Shifts
While the AQI continues to fluctuate, the weather is also witnessing gradual changes. The cold effect seems to be gradually fading, as on Monday, the maximum temperature recorded was 24°C. According to the IMD, the maximum and minimum temperatures over Delhi are in the range of 21 to 24°C and 6 to 7°C respectively. It said that the minimum temperatures are below normal upto 1-3°C and maximum temperature was above normal 1-2°C over most places.
IMD Weather Forecast For Delhi
For, Tuesday, a high of 24 degrees Celsius and low of 8 degrees Celsius have been predicted for Delhi. Shallow fog is likely in some parts of the capital. This data indicates that the weather is undergoing transformation, from winter to milder. However, the cooler mornings and nights suggest that the cold is still lingering. But, the daytime temperature reaching 21-24 degrees Celsius shows that temperatures are rising.
Delhi Pollution: AQI Forecast For Next 5 Days
The AQI is expected to reel under ‘poor’ and ‘very poor’ categories in coming days. The Air Quality Early Warning System for Delhi has predicted that it is likely to be in Poor category on 28 January. It is likely to be in Very Poor category from 29 to 30 January 2025. And for the next six days, the air quality is likely to be in Poor to Very Poor category.
