Delhi Pollution: AQI Remains ‘Poor’ Amid Weather Shifts; IMD Warns Of Rainfall On THESE Days

Actions under Stage-I and II of extant GRAP measures are currently in effect to prevent AQI from slipping down further. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted partly cloudy sky on Tuesday.

Delhi Pollution: The air quality in the national capital continues to remain in the ‘poor’ category for second consecutive day this week. The AQI was recorded at 211 on Tuesday at 9 am, according to the CPCB. After brief improvement, the air quality deteriorated back to poor levels on Sunday. The AQI had remained in the ‘moderate’ category from 13-15 February. The reason for ‘poor’ air quality levels include unfavourable meteorological conditions like partly cloudy sky, lower wind speed, changes in mixing height, ventilation coefficient and adverse weather conditions for dispersion of pollutants.

Weather Forecast For Delhi

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted partly cloudy sky on Tuesday with smog/ most likely in the morning. The maximum and minimum temperatures will remain 28 and 11 degrees Celsius respectively. Delhi’s weather is witnessing transformation, as the days are getting warmer. According to the IMD’s observation, there has been rise in minimum temperatures by 1-2°C and in maximum temperatures upto 1-02°C over Delhi-NCR during the past 24 hours. Delhi’s weather will experience slight changes as rain has been predicted on 19 and 20 February.

According to the Air Quality Early Warning System For Delhi, the air quality is likely to be in the Moderate category from 18 to 20 February. While for the next six days, it is expected to remain in ‘poor’ to ‘moderate’ category.

Delhi Pollution: Anti-Pollution Measures

Actions under Stage-I and II of extant GRAP measures are currently in effect to prevent AQI from slipping down further. The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) had revoked Stage-III measures under the revised GRAP on February 3 after witnessing improvement.
