Delhi Pollution: The air quality in the national capital has dropped to ‘very poor’ category, after witnessing slight improvement in past few days. The AQI was recorded at 348 on Friday at 6 am, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). Apart from the worsening air quality, Delhi is experiencing cold days with significant dip in temperatures. According to the India Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature in Palam was recorded 6.5 degrees Celsius on Thursday.
IMD Issues Orange Alert
A thick layer of dense fog has engulfed the national capital, affecting visibility. IMD has issued orange alert for dense to very dense fog amid cold wave. The maximum and minimum temperatures will remain 17 and 8 degrees Celsius respectively.

Rs 12,500 Crore Plan Announced
Meanwhile, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari has announced Rs 12500 crore to improve Delhi’s transport network and to reduce pollution as well as congestion in the city. An additional CRIF fund of Rs 1200 crore will be granted for the national capital.
Nitin Gadkari wrote on X, “Recognizing the important proposals given by Union Minister of State Shri @hdmalhotra ji including Delhi MPs Shri @praveendel ji, Shri @RamvirBidhuri ji, Smt @BansuriSwaraj ji, Shri @ManojTiwariMP ji and Shri @yogenderchando1 ji to find solution to the traffic and pollution problem of Delhi, under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji, new works worth Rs 12500 crore are being announced to improve Delhi’s transport network and to reduce pollution as well as congestion in the city.”
He added, “This will reduce the pressure of vehicles coming from outside Delhi. Along with reducing the problem of traffic jam, air pollution will also decrease. Along with this, a CRIF fund of Rs 1200 crore was also announced in Delhi.”
